Job description

We are looking for a savvy Data Engineer to join our growing team of analytics experts. The Data Engineer will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our client’s data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The ideal candidate is a cloud data engineer with experience working with Healthcare data / IT systems and who enjoys optimizing data systems.

The Data Engineer must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our client’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

General Responsibilities

What you might do during client engagements:

  • Data pipeline management – building data systems and pipelines, combining raw information from multiple sources, identifying opportunities for data acquisition
  • Architecture design – analyzing and organizing raw data using cloud-based tools
  • ELT (extract/load/transform) processes – preparing data for modeling, building algorithms and prototypes, data cleansing
  • Cloud management – work with multiple cloud-based services and tools, as well as hosted cloud providers
  • Data monitoring – ensure data quality, processes, and routines are optimized for performance and efficiency
  • Collaboration – work with data scientists and data analysts on multiple, concurrent projects.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • We are looking for a candidate with 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role, who has attained a Graduate degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field. They should also have experience using Google Data Products, e.g.: Big Query, Dataflow, Data proc, Looker, Cloud Data Fusion, Data prep
  • Experience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, Scala, etc.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Familiarity with developing data pipelines for predictive services.
  • Proficiency is developing CI / CD pipelines.
  • Extensive experience using Python and R.
  • Experience in Spark (Scala/Python/Java) and Kafka.
  • Experience in MDM, Metadata Management, Data Quality and Data Lineage tools.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL modern data stores.
  • Experience with Oracle Golden Gate replication in GCP.
  • Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
  • A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
  • Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience working in a healthcare environment and familiarity with healthcare data types (e.g., HL7, FHIR, claims).
  • Experience working with AI / ML in the healthcare environment.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Professional Google Data Engineer certification.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including a proven ability to effectively communicate ideas and insights to both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Reports individual activities, communicates changes and progress to team leaders.
